Job summary

Palmetto State Armory L in West Columbia, SC is seeking a full-time manual laborer for prep and paint of firearms and firearm parts. The role includes sanding, bead blasting, masking, priming, and applying finish coats using spray guns or brushes in a safety-conscious environment.

Responsibilities cover inspecting work, preparing surfaces, documenting paints and procedures, estimating time and materials, and maintaining PPE and a clean work area. Training provided for equipment and processes.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sand parts before paintwork starts and after completion
• Inspect work on parts prior to paint application
• Prepare surfaces for paint by sanding, bead blasting and masking
• Apply body filler to smooth sheet metal surfaces
• Roughen aluminum surfaces for paint adhesion
• Apply primers or sealers to prepare surfaces for finish coats
• Paint using conventional spray guns, pressure pots, brushes and/or rollers
• Prepare quotes for time, materials and jobs
• Document paints and procedures used in painting and repairs
• Maintain a clean and safe work area and wear PPE
• Troubleshoot equipment, perform preventative maintenance
• Follow guidelines for safe handling, disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous materials

JOB PURPOSE

Prep and paint firearms and/or parts of firearms.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for cleaning and sanding parts before paintwork is started/completed
• Responsible for inspecting work on parts prior to paint being applied
• Prepares surfaces for paint by sanding, bead blasting and using masking
• Apply Body filler to smooth sheet metal surfaces
• Roughen aluminum surfaces to create paint adhesion properties for the surface to be painted
• Apply primers or sealers to prepare new surfaces for finish coats
• Performs painting using conventional spray guns, Pressure pot, brushes and/or rollers
• Prepares quotes for time, material and jobs
• Documents paints and procedures used in painting and repairs
• Maintains a clean and safe work area, maintains and wears all required personal protective safety equipment
• Maintains equipment by troubleshooting malfunctions, completing preventative maintenance requirements and schedules
• Adhere to guidelines and procedures to ensure the safe handling, removal, and disposal of both hazardous and non-hazardous materials.\
