Qualifications

• Ability to use machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
• Knowledge of shop practices incl. metals and machinability.
• Strong shop mathematics including decimals and trigonometry.
• Able to read and follow written and oral directions from the company.

• Operate a variety of machine tools to perform specific operations independently.
• Make minor adjustments of feeds and speeds on the assigned machine tool.
• Grind own cutting tools and drills (except special purpose tools).
• Check parts with gauges or fixtures to ensure dimensions.
• Report improper machine function or out-of-tolerance parts.
• Assist and train others with lesser skill/experience.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

Job Description

The basic purpose or function of this position is to operate any machine or tool generally in use in the plant to perform completely and independently specific operations as outlined in the methods and process sheets furnished.

Job Qualification Requirements

• High School education or equivalent, and 3-5 years of specific and related experience.
• Skill level in excess of Machinist.
• Complete knowledge of temperature changes caused by machine operations and the use of proper coolants.
• Prior machinist experience as a Machine Operator.
• Ability to use machinist’s hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
• Knowledge of shop practice and procedure, including machinability of metals for the performance of the described work.
• Working knowledge of shop mathematics, including decimals and trigonometry.
• Ability to comprehend, interpret, and follow directions, both written and oral, as generated by the company.
• Proficiency in interpreting methods and process sheets.
• Follow required safety procedures.
• Maintain accurate paperwork and records.
• Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in the work area.

Essential Job Functions

Marginal duties and responsibilities, performed occasionally or at irregular intervals, include performing other duties as required.

This position may require work hours outside of the regularly scheduled hours to meet operational needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Additional work hours are assigned based on business requirements. Non‑exempt employees will be paid overtime in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.

The salary range for this position reflects a broad spectrum of experience levels. Compensation within the range is determined by relevant experience, education, certifications, job-related skills, internal equity, and market conditions.
