Job summary

Chromalloy Gas Turbine, LLC is seeking a skilled machinist/operator to perform precise metalworking tasks in our plant. You will operate and adjust various machine tools, grind cutting tools, and inspect parts to meet exact specifications. Training others and upholding safety standards are essential.

The position emphasizes accurate paperwork, housekeeping, and adherence to shop processes. A high school diploma with 3–5 years experience is required.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent with 3–5 years related machinist experience.
  • Ability to operate machine tools and adjust feeds/speeds per job sheets.
  • Ability to read and follow methods and process sheets.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a variety of machine tools to perform specified operations.
  • Make minor feeds and speeds adjustments on the machine tool.
  • Grind cutting tools and drills (excluding specialty tools).
  • Inspect parts with gauges or fixtures to ensure correct dimensions.
  • Train and mentor less experienced coworkers; maintain safety standards.
  • Maintain attendance and complete required paperwork accurately.
  • Follow safety/environmental procedures and keep work area clean.

Position Summary

To operate any machine or tool generally in use in the plant to perform completely and independently specific operations as outlined in the methods and process sheets furnished.

Job Qualification Requirements

To be eligible for this position, an individual must possess the following requirements to perform the essential job functions.

Education and Experience

Must have a High School education or equivalent, in addition to 3–5 years of specific and related experience. Must have skill level in excess of Machinist.

Licenses and Certifications

Journeyman Certificate a plus.

Skills and Knowledge

Must have complete knowledge of temperature changes caused by machine operations and the use of proper coolants. Must have prior machinist experience of a Machine Operator. Must have and be able to use machinist's hand tools and precision measuring instruments. Must have knowledge of shop practice and procedure including machinability of metals for performance of the work described.

Essential Job Functions
  • Operate a variety of machine tools, to perform completely and independently specific operations as outlined in the methods and process sheets.
  • Make minor adjustments of feeds and speeds on the machine tool assigned.
  • Grind own cutting tools and drills (other than special purpose tools).
  • Check parts using specified gages or check parts using furnished fixtures to see that dimensions are being maintained.
  • Report improper machine function and/or parts not being held to proper dimensions.
  • Effectively assist and train others of lesser skill and/or experience.
  • Regular and punctual attendance.
  • Train others of lesser skills.
  • Follow all Safety and Environmental Procedures.

Must be able to use shop mathematics including decimals. Must learn shop trigonometry, if not already known, during course of employment if progression is to occur. Must be able to comprehend, interpret and follow directions, both written and oral, as generated by the company. Must be able to interpret and follow methods and process sheets. Must follow required safety procedures. Must maintain accurate paperwork and records. Must maintain high standard of housekeeping in work area.

Marginal Duties and Responsibilities

Perform other duties as required.

Work Hours and Compensation

This position may require work hours outside of the regularly scheduled hours to meet operational needs. This may include work during evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. Additional work hours are assigned based on business requirements. Non‑exempt employees will be paid overtime in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.

The salary range for this position reflects a broad spectrum of experience levels. Individual compensation within the range is determined by multiple factors, including relevant experience, education, certifications, job related skills, internal equity, and market conditions. We evaluate each candidate individually to ensure fair and competitive pay decisions.
