Job summary

McClatchy’s Content Innovation Lab is hiring a Saltwater South Content Specialist to develop stories celebrating Gulf Coast cuisine, travel and coastal culture. You’ll write and edit high-quality features, guides and posts, using data and AI-enabled tools to plan and tailor coverage for engaged readers across platforms.

This role requires 3+ years of professional content creation, a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, and a collaborative, experimental mindset.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional experience in content creation, writing or journalism.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required.
• Strong writing, editing and organizational skills with ability to deliver high-quality content on deadline.
• Ability to use data and AI-powered tools to guide storytelling.

Responsibilities

• Develop and produce compelling stories, guides and features about the Coastal South.
• Collaborate with the team to experiment with new formats and distribution strategies.
• Use audience analytics to inform storytelling and reach engaged communities.
• Embrace a fast-paced, collaborative environment and pivot based on results.
• Help shape Saltwater South into a trusted daily destination for readers.
