NYC Department of Design and Construction, Division of Infrastructure, seeks a Deputy Director for the Design Unit – Coastal Resiliency in New York, NY. The role reports to leadership and guides capital projects across sewer, water, roads, climate resilience, and public spaces.

You will manage staff, review plans, coordinate with agencies and utilities, ensure contract compliance, and represent the agency in intergovernmental meetings.

Qualifications

• A valid New York State License as a Professional Engineer.
• Six years of full-time engineering experience across chemical, civil, electrical, environmental, or mechanical engineering; at least two years in executive/managerial/administrative capacity.

Responsabilités

• Manage the annual capital program consisting of multiple construction projects.
• Oversee professional and technical construction staff responsible for capital-funded projects (sewer, water main, roadway, climate resiliency, public space).
• Review construction plans and initiate field changes; coordinate with sponsor agencies, utilities, and stakeholders.
• Ensure contract compliance and timely payment approvals; schedule inspections with contractors and consultants for final acceptance.
• Represent the agency in meetings with utility companies and city, state, and federal agencies as needed.
