Job summary

Sonoma State University seeks a Research Technician I to support lab and field work for coastal ecosystem projects in northern California. You will assist with data collection, analysis and reporting, under the supervision of the Director of Operations and the PI. A four-year degree with statistics exposure is required, with MS preferred.

Strong writing and computer skills are essential for success. The role is full-time, temporary, non-exempt, onsite in Sonoma.

Qualifications

• This position requires a four-year college degree plus statistics coursework.
• One year of technical research or statistics work, or related graduate study.
• MS in biology, environmental science, oceanography, or related field preferred.
• Strong writing and quantitative analysis skills are highly valued.
• Experience with marine ecosystem field work is preferred.
• Proficiency with Excel, R, RStudio, Github, and PeopleSoft is encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Support research activities in the Hughes Lab for grant projects.
• Monitor coastal ecosystems and assist restoration efforts in northern California.
• Perform data management and statistical analysis as needed.
• Communicate findings with PI and Operations Director.
