Job summary

The California State University’s Hughes Lab at Sonoma State University seeks a Research Technician to support coastal ecosystem research for grant-funded projects in northern California. Reporting to the Director of Operations and collaborating with the PI, you will assist with data collection, fieldwork preparation, and data management.

Applicants should have a four-year degree with statistics coursework; an MS is preferred.

Qualifications

• Four-year college degree with statistics coursework
• One year of technical research or statistical work or one year of grad study in related fields
• MS in biology/environmental science/oceanography/conservation preferred
• Strong writing and analytical/quantitative skills preferred
• Field work experience in marine ecosystems preferred
• Proficiency with Word, Excel; knowledge of Google Suite, R, RStudio, Github, PeopleSoft preferred

Responsibilities

• Support research activities in Hughes Lab for grant-funded projects
• Monitor and help restore coastal ecosystems in northern California
• Prepare data and perform statistical analyses; manage data files
