Job summary

The Foth Companies seeks an Environmental Regulatory & Grants Specialist to support coastal and waterfront infrastructure projects. This role emphasizes regulatory permitting, grant administration, and funding strategies across the Midwest with limited travel.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in environmental permitting, technical writing, and stakeholder engagement, and can manage complex grant programs and regulatory processes independently.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in environmental-related field.
• 7+ years of experience in environmental permitting, regulatory compliance, grant development, or related fields.
• Proven success obtaining and managing permits and coordinating regulatory reviews.
• Experience managing grant-funded programs and/or successful grant applications.
• Regulatory permitting experience with environmental compliance and agency coordination.
• Experience reviewing engineering, architectural, or construction plans.
• Strong project coordination, technical writing, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, write, review, and submit competitive grant applications and supporting docs with compliance per sponsor requirements.
• Manage grant administration from application through award and post-award reporting with milestones and metrics.
• Lead environmental permitting and regulatory compliance for coastal/waterfront projects (docks, marinas, shoreline work).
• Prepare, manage, and coordinate local, state, and federal permit applications throughout project lifecycles.
• Conduct environmental analyses and documentation (NEPA, EIS, EA, Biological Assessments, reports, field observations).
• Identify and pursue federal/state/private funding opportunities, focusing on infrastructure and transportation sectors.
• Provide technical assistance and funding strategy support to municipalities and project teams.
