Job summary

St Simons By-the-Sea on Saint Simons Island, Georgia, is seeking a Mental Health Technician to join our 101-bed behavioral health hospital. You will support patients, observe and document behaviors, and assist in daily activities within a compassionate, team-based environment.

This hands-on role emphasizes safety, crisis intervention when needed, and collaboration with Clinical and Admissions teams to support the patient journey.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must be 21+ years of age.
• Experience of 1+ year in behavioral health preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Be a steady, supportive presence guiding patients through meals, activities and programming.
• Maintain safety by anticipating challenges and calmly de-escalating situations.
• Build trust-based relationships through positive communication and encouragement of healthy behaviors.
• Support screenings and assessments with Clinical and Admissions teams from the start.
• Assist with daily living needs to promote independence and progress.
