The Nature Conservancy is seeking a Coastal Fire Practitioner and Land Steward (CFPLS) to support prescribed fire implementation and land stewardship at Splinter Hill Bog Office in Baldwin County, AL, and on Conservancy lands in the Southern Deltas BU coastal landscapes.

The CFPLS will supervise Burn Crew Members, assist with logistics and maintenance, advance restoration efforts, and build strong partnerships with local fire professionals and communities, all while maintaining safety and

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree in science-related field or equivalent experience.
• Two or more seasons as Senior Burn Crew Member or similar.
• Qualified Fire Fighter Type 1 (Squad Boss) or FFT1 task book.
• Ability to work long hours, travel, and operate under minimal supervision.
• Must have valid driver's license.

Responsabilités

• Lead and supervise Burn Crew Members during fire operations.
• Mentor Burn Crew Members and other fire staff.
• Assist with logistics, time reporting, and budgeting tasks.
• Convey work instructions and monitor progress toward fire management goals.
• Make on-fire line decisions based on fire behavior and resources.
• Support prescribed fire preparation and burns on Conservancy lands.
• Perform preserve maintenance tasks and operate equipment.
• Travel regularly for projects and monitoring.
