Moffatt & Nichol in Oakland, CA seeks a Coastal Engineer – Entry to Jr level to assist with planning and design for waterfront projects. You will contribute to feasibility studies, coastal hazard assessments, data collection, and coastal modeling under supervision.

The ideal candidate holds a relevant engineering degree, is pursuing or has earned EIT licensure, and can work with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or GIS. This role offers growth in a busy, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Master's or Bachelor's in a relevant field with 2–4 years of experience preferred
• EIT licensure within 6 months of hire
• Working knowledge of coastal engineering design including marinas, living shorelines, and beach nourishment
• Proficiency with AutoCAD; growing skills in Civil 3D, MicroStation, and GIS
• Ability to perform coastal data collection, geotechnical investigations, and permit documentation
• Solid technical judgment; ability to work independently on defined tasks
• Pre-employment background check and U.S. employment eligibility required

Responsibilities

• Supports planning and design for waterfront and coastal structures including marinas and coastal protection
• Prepares or contributes to feasibility investigations and coastal hazard assessments
• Collects and analyzes coastal data, survey data, geotechnical investigations, and aerial imagery
• Undertakes calculations or modeling of coastal processes and sediment transport
• Assists with preparation of engineering planning, design, and technical reports; assists with permit documentation
• Assists with fieldwork and instrument handling and deployment
• Participates in project meetings and professional development activities
