Job summary

The Axel Group is seeking a Landscape Designer to join our ecological design team focused on coastal restoration across New England. The role blends technical design, site investigations, and on‑the‑ground project execution for erosion mitigation, dune stabilization, and shoreline restoration.

Qualified candidates bring 5+ years in landscape design or ecological planning, proficiency in AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite, and strong coastal ecology knowledge. A MLA is preferred; PLA is a plus.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of landscape design, ecological restoration, or environmental planning experience.
  • Strong technical background with coastal restoration knowledge.
  • Experience with permitting and public hearings preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead ecological design plan production including coastal erosion strategies and native planting palettes.
  • Conduct site investigations with visits, photos, soil sampling, and boundary delineation.
  • Collaborate with construction crews and on-site superintendents to adapt designs.
  • Mentor junior team members by reviewing CAD drafts and documentation.
  • Prepare and present NOI packages and permit exhibits to Conservation Commissions.
