Head Girls’ Track Coach

Blue Springs School District

2026-2027

Position Summary:

To help each participating student achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship, and an increased level of self-esteem. Lead and promote the track and field program.

  • This position reports to the Principal and Activities Director.
  • Salary will be commensurate with experience.
  • Salary range is $7,565 - $8,322.

Essential Functions:

  • Coach individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in track.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the rules and fundamentals of track.
  • Plan and schedule a regular program of practice in season.
  • Actively promote, schedule, and design off-season practices and workout opportunities for student-athletes, maximizing the utilization of all currently allowable MSHSAA contact days.
  • Oversee the safety conditions of the facility or area in which track is conducted, and at all times, students are present.
  • Maintain accurate statistics, records, and results of the season.
  • Enforce discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times, and establish and oversee penalties for breach of such standards by individual students.
  • Provide emergency first aid.
  • Maintain a conducive and safe environment.
  • Maintain, issue, and provide an accurate inventory of school equipment.
  • Model skills of the sport.
  • Develop positive relations with students and parents. This includes appropriate dress, language, and demeanor.
  • Place a team on the field of competition and substitute players appropriately as part of a well-organized game plan.
  • Screen student-athletes for membership on a team. When cuts are required because of size limitations, use sound judgment to assess skills, aptitude, interest, citizenship, future ability, and temperament.
  • Provide eligibility lists, rosters, and other paperwork as required by administration.
  • Promote participation, conditioning, and training through camps and individual contacts.

Experience: Previous experience in coaching track preferred.

Education: Educator certification preferred. Must hold a valid Missouri teaching certificate or be eligible for a substitute teaching certificate (minimum 60 college credit hours.)
