Job summary

Tucson Unified School District is seeking a temporary athletic coach to promote sportsmanship and foster character in student-athletes.

Responsibilities include ensuring safety, supervising students in practice areas and transportation, and maintaining diplomatic interactions with players, families, staff, officials, and spectators throughout the season.

Qualifications

• NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching certificate required (employee expense).
• NFHS Concussion certificate required; review Concussion in Sports course.
• Certifications for student mental health and safety must be reviewed.
• Current CPR with AED and First Aid are required (EMT license supersedes).
• Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card required.

Exercise patience, tolerance, and diplomacy in relations with all players, parents, co-workers, contest officials, and spectators. Interscholastic activities are an extension of the classroom and as such, your actions, behavior, and interactions with our student-athletes should be reflective of this.

Minimum Requirements

• NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching certificate (at employee's expense) Fundamentals of Coaching Course
• NFHS Concussion certificate Concussion in Sports Course ATC Student-Athlete Health & Wellness certificate (must review PowerPoint and sign a document affirming PowerPoint has been reviewed)
• Act on Facts Suicide Prevention Training OR NFHS Student Mental Health and Suicide Prevention certificate Student Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Course
• Current CPR w/AED (On-line classes are not accepted; EMT license supersedes this requirement) Current First Aid (On-line classes are not accepted; EMT license supersedes this requirement)
• Current Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card

Must be available to work on Saturdays as needed.

Requirements Prior To Start Date

• Bloodborne pathogen training after hire by TUSD Risk Management Department*
• Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization.

LOCATION: Robins K-8 School - Sweetwater & Silverbell Area

Season Dates - October into December

STIPEND to be prorated for days missed in the sports season due to late starts or early terminations.

This position is temporary and not eligible for district benefits.
