The City of Onalaska is seeking to hire an Instructor and Traveling Coach. Under the supervision of the Recreation Manager/Coordinator, the employee in this position is responsible for the overall direction and oversight of any portion associated with a recreation program.
The instructor independently provides direction to staff, coaches, volunteers, umpires/referees and spectators on program planning, team selection, rule interpretation, schedules, equipment usage, safety and program structure.
Work involves typical recreation‑program duties and may require lifting, standing, and other physical activities associated with program management.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not necessary. Applicant must be a student or adult with sports knowledge and possess supervision and leadership skills.
Experience playing, coaching or participating in a sport or program of a similar nature. Ability to work with minimum supervision.
Wage range: $10.00 – $13.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and budget. Positions are seasonal, limited‑term and do not include benefits.
