Job summary

VOALA is seeking a Co-Teacher for Head Start in Los Angeles to provide a developmentally appropriate classroom environment. The role supports children’s social, emotional, intellectual, and physical growth with diverse activities and close collaboration with a Family Advocate.

Responsibilities include planning curricula for double sessions, engaging families, and coordinating with HS services to ensure health, nutrition and education goals are met. Strong preference for bilingual applicants.

Qualifications

• Fingerprint clearance and background checks required.
• TB clearance within 6 months, annual influenza vaccination, pertussis and measles immunization.
• Health screening at time of employment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and move quickly in a busy environment.
• High School Diploma/GED and 24 CD units in Early Childhood Education/Child Development.

Responsibilities

• Provide a developmentally appropriate environment with activities fostering social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth.
• Plan and implement curriculum for morning and afternoon classes (double sessions).
• Coordinate with Family Advocate to support enrolled families with resources.
• Integrate Head Start services into learning and family engagement.
• Maintain student records and complete timely paperwork.
• Ensure health and safety standards and adapt activities to diverse backgrounds.
