Job summary

Philips in Latham, NY is offering a 6-month co-op opportunity for undergraduate engineering students. You will join the Mechanical Engineering team onsite to contribute to the design, assembly, and testing of cryogenic systems and superconducting magnets.

This role emphasizes hands-on lab work, troubleshooting, safety, and collaborative problem-solving, with opportunities to work closely with engineers and scientists, run experiments, and calibrate equipment.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing an undergraduate BS degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or other engineering
• Hands-on experience in a laboratory setting, setting up and executing test protocols. Knowledge of safety protocols and standards in a lab environment
• Experience with 3D modeling and other engineering tools. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design, assembly, and testing of cryogenic systems and superconducting magnets.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues related to cryogenic and superconducting systems.
• Collaborate with engineers and scientists to develop and implement design solutions.
• Conduct experiments and tests to evaluate the performance and reliability of prototypes.
• Maintain and calibrate lab equipment to ensure accurate and reliable measurements
