Job summary

Sonos in Boston is offering a full-time, 6-month Co-Op program (Jan 2027–June 2027) for Mechanical Engineering students. You will join a fast-moving, cross-functional team to design, test, and iterate components for consumer electronics, focusing on manufacturability and robust testing.

Ideal candidates are pursuing Mechanical Engineering, can commit to at least 4 onsite days per week, and bring hands-on drafting, CAD, and data presentation skills.

Qualifications

• Fundamental interest in mechanical design and manufacturing.
• Experience with 3D modeling tools (NX or OnShape).
• Ability to work independently with a can-do attitude.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collect and present technical data to a wide audience.
• Willingness to peer review and work in a diverse cross-functional team.
• Trusted to work in a high security, confidential lab.

Responsibilities

• Immerse in a fast-paced, cross-functional team environment.
• Develop skills in mechanical design, DFM, simulation, and rapid prototyping.
• Understand mechanical engineering as a systems integrator in consumer electronics.
• Transform requirements into optimized solutions including test planning, prototyping, validation, and manufacturing.
• Design components, assemblies, and fixtures to support testing across AC, thermal/structural, RF/antenna, UI/UX, and industrial design.
• Participate in failure analysis and root-cause analysis with iterative design.
