Job summary

The University of Rochester is seeking a motivated mechanical engineering student to join the Laser Energy Laboratory team entering a Spring/Summer session. This paid co-op/internship provides hands-on experience with laser system components, vacuum systems, and diagnostic instruments.

As part of the program you will apply classroom concepts under mentor guidance, gain exposure to CAD software and fabrication processes, and participate in seminars to develop professional and scientific skills.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in an academic program that allows academic credit for working required.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Experience with CAD software and fabrication processes preferred.

Responsibilities

• Applies classroom theories to real-world tasks under mentor guidance.
• Works with a mechanical design team on laser system components and vacuum systems.
• Attends seminars/workshops to develop professional and scientific skills.
• Participates in team meetings and collaborates with colleagues.
• Other duties as assigned.
