Job summary

Philips in New Kensington, PA offers a 6‑month co-op opportunity for a Material Scientist. You will perform material assessments, investigate failures, review new materials and processes, and collaborate with R&D, CROs and regulatory teams to enable safe, innovative Sleep & Respiratory Care products.

You are pursuing a BS or MS in a related field and have lab experience with materials analysis and instrumentation. This is an onsite co‑op with a strong emphasis on quality systems.

Qualifications

• Pursuing BS or MS in Chemistry, Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering or similar fields.
• Experience analyzing chemical and physical properties of materials to draw scientific conclusions.
• Experience using test instrumentation and equipment in and out of a Lab environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform material assessments and testing to assess biocompatibility for product development and design changes.
• Investigate material failures and coordinate corrective actions with project teams.
• Review new materials, manufacturing processes, finishing technologies, and reprocessing methods for Philips Sleep & Respiratory Care products.
• Contribute to long term competence development in materials science at S&RC.
• Adhere to internal quality manuals and procedures.
• Work cross-functionally with R&D, NPD, CROs, regulatory agencies and other stakeholders.
