Job summary

Philips is offering a 6‑month co-op in New Kensington, PA for undergraduates and/or graduates in chemistry or materials disciplines. The role focuses on biocompatibility assessments, materials testing, and cross‑functional collaboration with R&D and regulatory teams.

You will gain hands-on experience in a HealthTech environment, contributing to product development and design changes while adhering to quality manuals and procedures.

Qualifications

• Pursuing BS/MS in Chemistry, Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Bioengineering.
• Experience analyzing chemical and physical properties to draw scientific conclusions.
• Experience using test instrumentation and equipment in a lab environment.
• Ability to collaborate with other technical disciplines and external partners.
• Able to meet physical, cognitive and environmental job requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform material assessments and testing to assess biocompatibility for product development.
• Investigate material failures and coordinate corrective actions with project teams.
• Review new materials, processes, finishing technologies and reprocessing methods.
• Contribute to long-term competence development in materials science at S&RC.
• Work cross-functionally with R&D, NPD, CROs, regulatory agencies and internal/external scientists.
