Job summary

Voith Paper in Appleton, Wisconsin, invites applications for a Co-op, FES Application Engineering role. The student will support the sales team by developing quotes and understanding Voith Fiber Systems products and processes.

You will collaborate with engineers and sales across local, national, and international teams, sizing equipment and drafting detailed cost estimates, while contributing to start-up support and on-site customer interactions as needed.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a BS degree program in Pulp & Paper Science or Chemical Engineering.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to talk technically with sales and engineering colleagues (local, national, international).
• Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint; ability to learn other programs.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to the sales organization, including preparing quotations.
• Develop and maintain understanding of Voith Fiber Systems products and process technology.
• Determine customer needs and deliver a solution (system or single machine) to fulfill it.
• Define and size machines and systems per Voith Engineering Directives.
• Develop accurate quotations and cost estimates; maintain sizing sheets and correspondence.
• Assist Sales Team to determine customer needs and promote Voith products and technology via calls, meetings, or site visits.
• Support start-up and optimization of systems sold; present at customer sites or conferences if required.

Summary:

The Application Engineer is responsible for providing technical support to the sales organization, including preparing quotations.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain a general understanding of all Voith Fiber Systems products and processtechnology, working with existing Application Engineers.
• Determine customer needs, problems and requirements and deliver a solution (system or singlemachine) to fulfill/solve it.
• Define and size the required machines and systems according to the Voith EngineeringDirectives.
• Develop accurate, competitive and appropriate quotations in a timely manner and developaccurate and detailed cost estimates.
• Maintain a well-organized quotation file with accurate and current Sizing Sheets, Balances,Correspondences, Equipment Specifications.
• Assist Sales Team to help determine customer needs and promote Voith products andtechnology through email, phone calls, meetings, or site visits.
• Support (participate) in the start-up and optimization of systems sold as required to maintain athorough understanding of the process.
• If required, present at customer site or conferences.
• Work as a team with cross-departmental colleagues.

Qualifications:

• Enrolled in a qualified educational program for a BS degree in Pulp & Paper Science or ChemicalEngineering.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to talk technically with sales and engineering colleagues (local, national, international).
• Excellent organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, ability to learn other programs.
• Discretion in dealing with confidential data.
• Paper mill experience will be advantageous but not necessary.
• Self starter requiring little guidance from superiors.
