Job summary

Voith US Inc. in Appleton, WI is seeking a Co-op, FES Application Engineering to support the sales team by gaining hands-on technical experience with Voith Fiber Systems.

You will learn to determine customer needs, size systems, prepare quotations, and work with cross-functional colleagues; the program targets BS students in Pulp & Paper Science or Chemical Engineering.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a BS program in Pulp & Paper Science or Chemical Engineering.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to discuss technical topics with sales and engineering teams.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficient with Word, Excel and PowerPoint; quick to learn new tools.
• Paper mill experience is a plus but not required.
• Self-starter who can work with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to the sales organization and assist with quotations.
• Develop understanding of Voith Fiber Systems products and processes.
• Define customer needs and propose solutions (system or single machine).
• Size machines according to engineering directives and prepare accurate cost estimates.
• Create well-organized sizing sheets and correspondence for quotations.
• Collaborate with sales team and participate in site visits as needed.
• Assist in start-up and optimization of systems to understand processes.
• Support presentations at customer sites or conferences as required.

Summary:

The Application Engineer is responsible for providing technical support to the sales organization, including preparing quotations.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain a general understanding of all Voith Fiber Systems products and processtechnology, working with existing Application Engineers.
• Determine customer needs, problems and requirements and deliver a solution (system or singlemachine) to fulfill/solve it.
• Define and size the required machines and systems according to the Voith EngineeringDirectives.
• Develop accurate, competitive and appropriate quotations in a timely manner and developaccurate and detailed cost estimates.
• Maintain a well-organized quotation file with accurate and current Sizing Sheets, Balances,Correspondences, Equipment Specifications.
• Assist Sales Team to help determine customer needs and promote Voith products andtechnology through email, phone calls, meetings, or site visits.
• Support (participate) in the start-up and optimization of systems sold as required to maintain athorough understanding of the process.
• If required, present at customer site or conferences.
• Work as a team with cross-departmental colleagues.

Qualifications:

• Enrolled in a qualified educational program for a BS degree in Pulp & Paper Science or ChemicalEngineering.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to talk technically with sales and engineering colleagues (local, national, international).
• Excellent organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, ability to learn other programs.
• Discretion in dealing with confidential data.
• Paper mill experience will be advantageous but not necessary.
• Self starter requiring little guidance from superiors.
