Job summary

Suncoast Center, Inc. in St. Petersburg, FL seeks a Substance Abuse Specialist to join the Assertive Community Treatment (FACT) team. Provides psychotherapy and case management for clients with co-occurring disorders in a fast-paced, client-centered environment.

The role requires a strong clinical background, organizational skills, and a commitment to recovery-oriented practices. Requires driving to community sites and on-call duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in social work, clinical psychology or related field.
• Certification as Certified Addiction Professional or within one year of employment.
• At least two years’ experience with individuals with severe mental illness and co-occurring disorders.
• Must pass Level II background screening and pre-employment drug test.
• Must be 21 years of age and able to provide official transcripts.

Responsibilities

• Provides counseling using solution-based strategies aligned with best practices.
• Acts as continuing case coordinator, handling documentation and releases of information.
• Assists clients in developing measurable treatment goals with realistic time frames.
• Delivers FACT services including housing, medical, financial, and vocational support.
• Completes initial and ongoing documentation within required time frames.
• Participates in on-call crisis intervention and multi-disciplinary team meetings.
• Coordinates with family, staff, and community supports to meet client needs.
• Supervises with team leader and maintains exemplary clinical practice.
• Accomplishes individual goals.
