Job summary

The Salvation Army Southern California seeks a SATS Co-Occurring Counselor to manage a caseload, facilitate groups, and deliver SBIRT and ASAM assessments within an Alaska Department of Corrections contract framework.

The role requires a master’s level clinician with behavioral health training, knowledge of DSM diagnoses, and the ability to obtain Alaska CDCI and Counselor Technician credentials within one year. Strong documentation and crisis-intervention skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Master’s level clinician with Master’s Degree in the Behavioral Health Sciences or related field and two years’ related experience; preference for knowledge of criminal personality and DSM diagnoses.
• Experience with Substance Related and Addictive Disorders (SRAAD) and its treatment.
• Prefer CDCI certification; Alaska State CDCI certification within one year if hired.

Responsibilities

• Conduct SBIRT and ASAM Integrated assessments, orientation with new clients, development of treatment plans, referrals and reentry planning as needed.
• Facilitate groups addressing chemical dependency, substance abuse issues, co-occurring disorders, criminal personalities, and criminal thinking errors per approved curriculum.
• Monitor client compliance with treatment goals and curriculum.
• Complete documentation in a timely fashion and in contract compliance.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
