Job summary

UMass Chan Medical School is seeking a Co-Generation Engineer I Oper to run the boilers, turbines and related auxiliaries in the Co-Generation Facility. You will monitor, adjust and log power production, ensure safety, and perform routine maintenance.

The role requires operating high-pressure equipment, supervising power systems, and coordinating with a union-related environment. Qualifications include a Massachusetts Third Class Stationary Engineer's License and 1–2 years in a modern power

Qualifications

• Massachusetts Third Class Stationary Engineer's License is required.
• 1–2 years' experience in a modern power plant.
• Knowledge of safety around 13,800-volt systems and rotating equipment.
• Experience with refrigeration and condensing steam turbine-driven equipment.
• Experience with large high-pressure boilers with super heaters and economizers.
• Ability to work rotating shifts.

Responsibilities

• Operate boilers, turbine generators, turbo-motor compressors and auxiliaries.
• Produce steam, power, electrical power and refrigeration as needed.
• Perform repairs to mechanical, electrical and distribution systems.
• Operate high pressure steam boilers and associated equipment; log readings.
• Manage power factor, frequency and voltage adjustments.
• Operate UPS and 13,800 V distribution system; standby diesel system.
• Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections.
