Job summary

SteadMark is seeking a technical co-founder to own engineering and product as a full partner from day one. You will drive architecture, implement features, and shape the platform from MVP to a scalable, paying-customer solution. This is a true partnership with equity, not a hire.

You will work closely with the founder on strategy, fundraising, and customer development, with a goal of assembling and leading the founding engineering team after funding.

SteadMark is the operating system for organizational change capacity. We send the people who lead organizational change one email each morning that names who needs a conversation today, what to say, and why it lands. Most change initiatives wear down the people living through them before leaders can act. SteadMark turns everyday workplace communication into a clear, daily read on how a change is landing. Founded by a former paramedic who spent several years reading rooms under pressure. We are seeking a technical co-founder to own engineering and product as a full partner.

The Opportunity: Your Role as Technical Co-founder

This is a ground-floor role and an equal partnership, not a hire. You own engineering and product build end to end, from architecture to hands-on implementation. You are a full strategic partner to the founder, moving fast to take the product from working code to something the first design partners trust.

What You’ll Build and Own

• Production-Ready SaaS Architecture: Own and harden a live multi-tenant platform on Vercel and Supabase. The MVP ships today. Your job is to make it reliable enough for paying customers.
• AI Classification Pipeline: Extend the system that reads workplace communication and classifies resistance patterns and mode states, mapped through Self-Determination Theory.
• Ingestion and Integrations: Build out the ingestion layer beyond Slack to email and meeting transcripts.
• Daily Recommendation Engine: Develop the logic behind the daily email that names who needs a conversation, what to say, and why it lands. The product is the recommendation, not the data.
• Team & Culture: Help recruit and lead the founding engineering team post-funding, setting the standard for how SteadMark builds.

Who You Are: The Ideal Cofounder Profile

• A High-Velocity Builder: Exceptionally hands-on. You ship real product and use modern tools, including AI coding assistants, to multiply your output.
• A True Partner, Low Ego: Deeply collaborative and transparent. You want to build a company, not take a job.
• A Relentless Executor: You roll up your sleeves and consistently produce high-quality work. You set technical direction without waiting for a spec.
• A Product-Minded Engineer: You care about the user and about translating a behavioral model into a product managers actually trust.
• A Strong Full-Stack Technologist: Comfortable owning a production codebase end to end. We run TypeScript, Supabase, and edge functions, but shipping ability matters more than stack match.
• Interest in organizational behavior, applied psychology, or change management is a plus, not a requirement.

The Partnership

You join a founder who owns strategy, fundraising, sales, and customer development. Domain depth lives on that side too: psychology research background, PMP-certified project management, and the customer conversations that shaped the product. Demand validation is done, through surveys, change-manager interviews, and a waitlist. The split is clean today, and we figure out the gray areas together as the company grows.

• A substantial, cofounder-level equity stake, with a standard 4-year vesting schedule and a 1-year cliff.
• Salary, which commences upon the successful closing of our pre-seed or seed round.
