Volunteer Role: Co-Chief Operating Officer

Location: Remote within the US

About Us

WeVote is a nonpartisan get-out-the-vote nonprofit startup and a celebrated Fast Forward nonprofit technology grantee. We are a movement of over 100 passionate volunteers building open-source mobile technologies to mobilize voters on Election Day. Our goal is to provide a complete voting experience in 8 minutes via our app, WeVote Ballot Guide. We are a 100% volunteer and remote organization.

WeVote Co-Chief Operating Officer, Job Definition

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Co-COO will have strategic responsibility for tracking and facilitating WeVote's programs, expansion, and execution of its mission. Operational responsibilities will be shared with other senior leaders. Flexibility and a team-first approach are essential as we explore distributing the COO role among multiple individuals.

This is a volunteer position requiring approximately 10-20 hours per week, mostly during work hours.

Leadership & Management
  1. Ensure programmatic excellence, rigorous evaluation, and quality of communications and systems; recommend timelines and resources for strategic goals.
  2. Collaborate with WeVote's senior management team. Develop effective systems to track progress and evaluate programs using Objectives and Key Results, communicating successes to stakeholders.
Qualifications
  1. Deep commitment to WeVote's mission. Proven leadership, coaching, and relationship management experience.
  2. At least 10 years of senior management experience, with a track record of scaling organizations and developing strategies for growth.
  3. Strong commitment to quality programs and data-driven evaluation.
  4. Excellent organizational management skills, including coaching staff, managing teams, setting strategic objectives, and budgeting.
  5. Effective written and verbal communication skills; persuasive and passionate.
  6. Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative.
  7. Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse groups.
  8. Passion, integrity, positivity, mission-driven, and self-directed.
