Job summary

Sofidel America in Duncan, SC is seeking a Converting Shift Supervisor to lead a production team in a stable, long‑term role. You will supervise converting operations, set up materials for work orders, assign production orders to lines, and maintain safety and quality across shifts.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of supervision in manufacturing with technical education and relevant certifications, including lift certification. Local candidates preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate’s and/or Bachelor’s degree in a technical field.
• 2+ years of experience managing a production team within manufacturing.
• Strong electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and troubleshooting experience.
• Must have or obtain a lift certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance to converting department workers to aid in issue resolution.
• Evaluate performance and provide training guidance.
• Initiate promotions, transfers, terminations, and disciplinary actions.
• Determine staffing levels and training needs for a safe environment.
• Lead shift pre-run meetings to review safety and production orders.
• Collaborate with Safety Manager on injury and safety actions.
• Communicate with Quality team on immediate concerns and follow-up.
• Monitor machine run speeds and changeover notifications with maintenance as needed.
• Review PC Touch data to ensure production requirements are met.
• Perform or assist with operations to maintain workflow and deadlines.
• Maintain safe, clean, orderly work areas; report equipment issues and material needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.

Position Overview

Sofidel America of Duncan is currently seeking a Converting Shift Supervisor. We are searching for a candidate who is local to the area and is looking for a long-term role in a stable environment. Your expertise will make you an important part of our team!

The Shift Supervisor will assume responsibility for a designated group of employees, providing support, direction, and enforcing work standards. This individual will supervise the converting department activities, including setting up materials for work orders, assigning production orders to production lines, and organizing converting areas to maintain production, all while adhering to existing policies and precedence.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not be limited to:

• Provide guidance to converting department workers to aid in the investigation and resolution of issues.
• Evaluate the performance of employees and offer guidance and training.
• Start personnel actions such as promotions, transfers, terminations, and disciplinary actions.
• Determine current and future personnel levels, as well as new employee training, to provide a safe working environment.
• Examine production area prior to beginning of shift and conduct meetings prior to shift to review safety procedures and production orders.
• Collaborate with the Safety Manager to implement action plans for all injuries and safety-related concerns that occur during shifts and complete all incident/injury reports.
• Consult and communicate with the Quality team about any immediate quality concerns and follow up as necessary.
• Evaluate machine run speeds and monitor changeover notifications, notifying the maintenance team as needed.
• Examine data from the PC Touch to ensure that all production requirements are met.
• Perform or assist with any operations as needed to maintain workflow, fulfill deadlines, and meet quality standards. Notify management of any odd equipment or operating issues, as well as the need for additional materials and supplies.
• Maintain a safe work environment by following safety procedures and equipment operating guidelines and keeping the work area clean and orderly.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the manager.

Job Requirements

• Associate’s and/or Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, and/or three (3) to five (5) years of related experience or training is preferred.
• 2+ years of experience managing a production team within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and troubleshooting experience is preferred.
• Strong sense of job ownership/accountability with effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Must have or obtain a lift certification.

ADP Knowledge: Previous experience or working knowledge of ADP Workforce Now (ADP WFN) is preferred, including reviewing employee timecards, approving time-off requests, managing schedules, and assisting with basic time and attendance functions.
