Job summary

Otsuka America Pharmaceutical, Inc. is seeking a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) in the CNS space to join the ecosystem-based customer engagement model.

The MSL will provide clinical, economic, and humanistic information related to CNS diseases and the appropriate use of Otsuka products within the ecosystem. The role involves engaging with Key Influencers, Local Practice Leaders, healthcare providers, and patient groups to improve patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• MD/DO, PharmD or PhD in life sciences or Master's degree with equivalent psychiatry or CNS clinical experience.
• Minimum 2 years of pharmaceutical medical affairs or relevant work experience.
• Understanding of the interconnectivity of health systems, overall delivery of patient care, and experience working with healthcare professionals and other decision makers.
• Strong business acumen; knows the industry, Otsuka's business model and value proposition, key competitors, and other marketplace factors/dynamics. Able to identify solutions with the overall goal of improved patient outcomes.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills; exhibits professional maturity, confidence, and competence. Strong conflict resolution skills: proven ability to achieve conflict resolution effectively and quickly with affected parties and work in a cross-functional environment.
• Ability to lead others and project teams strategically
• Knows how to summarize and communicate complex information and business objectives in a concise and effective way during presentations and other interactions.
• Strong understanding of industry legal, regulatory, and compliance landscape
• Ability to work in an ambiguous environment undergoing transformation.

• Business travel, by air or car, up to 70% of time depending upon size of territory.
• Preferred living location is key city in territory

Responsibilities

• Contributes a clinical and scientific perspective to local execution plans addressing customer challenges to improve patient care.
• Builds and maintains external relationships with scientific and medical customers and organizations within the territory to understand evolving healthcare trends and Otsuka products.
• Develops a deep understanding of the ecosystem to align with patient-centric strategy and priorities.
• Delivers evidence-based information on clinical, economic, and humanistic value to stakeholders and applies real-world solutions.
• Collaborates across matrix teams to shape local medical strategies and timelines.
• Disseminates disease state and healthcare landscape information to customers in the field.
• Provides clinical and data-focused training of promotional and disease state speakers.
• May serve as part of Otsuka's speaker bureau for product education within the territory.
• Assists with clinical trials programs and health economic outcomes research; provides expertise for site selection and trial performance.
• Mentors peers and supports continuous professional development across the team.
• Supports Safety & Pharmacovigilance, Sales Training medical education, and Field Medical Center of Excellence with best practices.
