Job Description

The Dishwasher is responsible for efficiently cleaning and sanitizing dishes, trays, utensils, and kitchenware used in the cafeteria and prep kitchen, ensuring hygiene standards are met to support safe food preparation and consumption. This role helps maintain a clean environment and supports smooth meal service operations.

The district's Child Nutrition Director & Kitchen Manager

Terms of Employment

Part-time / 10 months / Hourly / 9:00 A.M. - 2:00 P.M.

Responsibilities

• Wash dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment using dishwashing machines or manual techniques.
• Ensure all items are thoroughly cleaned, sanitized, and dried before storage.
• Keep dishwashing area and kitchen equipment clean and organized.
• Maintain cleanliness of sinks, counters, and floors.
• Properly dispose of kitchen waste.
• Maintain and report on dishwashing equipment condition.
• Assist in inventory management of kitchen supplies.
• Follow safety and hygiene standards set by the school and health regulations.
• Assist with meal service setup, cleaning, and takedown.
• Perform housekeeping duties as needed, such as sweeping and mopping.
• Support other staff during down times.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Certification & License Requirements

• Must hold or obtain a Food Handlers License within 60 days of employment.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent, or one year of relevant food service experience.

Job Requirements

• Lift 25 lbs regularly; 50 lbs with assistance.
• Complete 6 hours of USDA Professional Standard training annually.
• Work flexible hours, including early mornings and varied shifts.
• Wear appropriate attire including hair restraint and non-slip shoes.
• Possess a valid driver’s license.
• Follow grooming and conduct standards.
