Job summary

Vestavia Hills City Schools is seeking a Child Nutrition Program Associate to support dining services in our schools. You will help plan, prepare, and serve meals, while maintaining sanitation, safety, and professional conduct in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include performing custodial and storeroom duties as needed, adhering to policies, and collaborating with the nutrition team and faculty to support student nutrition services.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience in school food services preferred.
  • Jefferson County Food Handlers Card or Serv Safe Certification.
  • Must meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama statutes and State Board of Education regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate commitment to and support for the vision and mission of the system and school.
  • Perform work in the school food service facility in accordance with regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Plan, prepare and serve food as assigned by manager demonstrating initiative and enthusiasm for the task(s).
  • Perform all custodial, dish room, serving area and/or storeroom duties as assigned by manager.
  • Maintain high standards of sanitation and work safety.
  • Operate and maintain food service equipment in a safe and skillful manner.
  • Maintain an effective professional appearance with appropriate non-skid, slip-resistant shoes and uniform determined by the manager.
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with manager, CNP Associates, Principal and faculty and staff.
  • Provide cordial and professional service to students and others.
  • Work in any position in the department as directed by the manager.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and other school and/or workplace matters as outlined in the Acceptable Use Policy.
  • Participate in required Professional Development.
  • Report, in a timely manner, any potential problems or unusual events to the CNP Manager.
  • Respond to and adapt behavior from constructive criticism, evaluation and other inquiries from the manager with urgency.
  • Adhere to attendance and punctuality standards as established by Board Policy
  • Ensure adherence to good safety standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters.
  • Model and maintain high ethical standards.
  • Demonstrate initiative in the performance of assigned responsibilities.
  • Maintain expertise in assigned area to fulfill project goals and objectives.
  • Participate successfully in the training programs offered to increase skill and proficiency related to assignment.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the system’s approved compensation plan.
Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the system.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Demonstrate commitment to and support for the vision and mission of the system and school.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
