Job summary

Avalign Technologies, Inc. is hiring a Turret Punch Press Operator for our Greenwood, IN facility on a 1st shift.

You will set up and operate turret punch presses, load tooling, align workpieces, and run charts to achieve required punch patterns; read blueprints and operation sheets to determine steps; perform quality checks with calipers and micrometers; maintain accurate production counts and documentation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 1 year of related experience or training.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and operation sheets.
• Ability to set up and operate Turret Punch Press and input data into Traverse Manufacturing System.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Inserts, aligns, and locks punches and dies; positions work-piece and sets dimensions.
• Presses pedal to activate the punch and adjusts settings per charts.
• Reads blueprints to determine operations and performs punching as specified.
• Uses gauges to inspect parts and reports dimensional issues.

Job description

We are looking for a Turret Punch Press Operator to join our Greenwood, IN facility on a 1st shift schedule.

You will operate turret punch press to punch holes or layout marks in metal sheets, plates, strips, or bars, following charts which list machine settings for each cut by performing the following duties.

What You’ll Do:

• Inserts, aligns, and locks punches and dies in turret; places work-piece on table and aligns work-piece to scale and end gauge on machine and clamps it to machine table; pushes button to turn turret to specified punch and die; and turns cranks to set indicator to specified dimension on forward and lateral machine scale.
• Presses pedal to activate punch; Repeats operation for each machine setting specified on charts; and positions center punch from turret to touch plate and turns crank to scratch layout lines
• Reads and interprets blueprints and work operations sheets to determine appropriate operations
• Computes punch charts from blueprints and punches holes in nonmetallic materials
• Uses inspection gauges such as calipers (both dial and vernier), micrometers, squares, and height gauges to perform quality checks on parts as outlined by AQL and work instructions; reports dimensional problems to supervisor or set-up person.
• Maintains and ensures accurate counts on completed parts and scrapped parts; completes production paperwork and makes required entries into company data base.
• Maintains tools, measuring instruments, and equipment in a clean and orderly manner; reports all equipment problems or malfunctions to supervisor/manager immediately; and maintains clean, orderly and safe work areas at all times.

What You’ll Need:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• 1 year of related experience and/or training
• Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Must be able to identify dimensional problems and/or set-up problems and seek assistance when needed.
• Mathematical skills to manage units of measure, fractions, decimals, whole numbers.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and operations sheets to determine set-up and operations to be formed
• Ability to set-up and operate Turret Punch Press machine, input and maintain data in Traverse Manufacturing System
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
