Job summary

Hickory Metal Plant, part of HSM (Hickory Springs Manufacturing) Company, seeks a skilled CNC tube laser operator in Hickory, NC. You will set up, load programs, and inspect parts using precision tools, reading blueprints and work orders to ensure quality.

You’ll maintain records and support safety and continuous improvement initiatives on a clean, organized shop floor. Ideal candidates have manufacturing experience with CNC or tube laser, strong mechanical aptitude, and basic computer skills

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Manufacturing experience preferred, CNC/tube laser/metal fabrication strongly preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and manufacturing documentation.
• Experience using calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and other precision measuring instruments.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Basic computer skills for machine operation and production reporting.
• Excellent attention to detail, reliability, and a strong safety mindset.
• Forklift or overhead crane experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and monitor CNC tube laser cutting equipment.
• Load machine programs and adjust settings for various materials and production requirements.
• Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring tools.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders.
• Safely load raw materials and unload finished components.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance, machine cleaning, and basic troubleshooting.
• Identify quality concerns and work with Production, Quality, and Maintenance teams to resolve issues quickly.
• Maintain accurate production and inspection records.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
