Job summary

BARNES GROUP in Lansing, MI is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to operate NC machining for dies and fixtures and to program CNC machines with Hyper Mill. The role includes determining sequencing of operations to meet tight tolerances and collaborating with engineering on tool designs.

There is a 6 to 12 months training on day shift (7a-3p) before transferring to the 3rd shift (11a-7a). A high school diploma or GED is required; strong organization and attention to detail are essential for

Must perform the physical and functional requirements of the job, including standing for the majority of the work shift.
Must possess a high levels of organization, detail orientation, self-awareness and prioritization skills.

Responsibilities

Operate NC machining for dies and fixtures.
Program CNC machines (Hyper Mill preferred).
Determine sequencing of operations for dies and fixtures.
Work with engineering on tool designs.
Determine repair methods for dies and fixtures.
Perform a wide variety of machining operations requiring difficult setups and methods to maintain very close tolerances
Constructs, repairs, fits and assembles tools, dies, jigs, fixtures and gauges to ensure correct fits and proper operations
Makes necessary tool tryouts and diagnoses and corrects problems
Performs other duties as assigned
