Job summary

AFL Telecommunications LLC is seeking a highly motivated Tooling Technician to manage and optimize cutting tool inventory for a large-scale CNC machining operation. This role supports the Manufacturing Engineering Team by ensuring tooling availability, controlling inventory, and contributing to process improvements.

The successful candidate will work closely with engineers and technicians, maintain tooling specifications, and develop training programs to align tool selection with CNC processes

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of CNC machining or tooling management experience.
• Proficiency with tooling inventory systems and basic computer applications (Excel, ERP/MRP).
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Tooling Inventory Management: Maintain accurate inventory of cutting tools, holders, inserts, and related components.
• Tooling Specification & Procurement: Collaborate with engineers, programmers, and process technicians to specify correct tooling for each application.
• Process Control & Improvement: Lead tooling-related improvement initiatives to enhance machining performance and reduce waste.
• Technical Support & Collaboration: Act as a liaison between the shop floor and engineering team for tooling-related matters.
• Data & Reporting: Track tooling performance metrics and generate reports for engineering and management review.
