Job summary

Stmwmfg is seeking a CNC Tool Crib Technician to manage and maintain cutting tools, inserts, fixtures, and related tooling for CNC machining operations. You will ensure tools are stocked, organized, and ready to minimize downtime and support efficient production.

Responsibilities include issuing tooling, inspecting for wear, assembling and presetting per job requirements, and maintaining accurate tool records. Strong organizational skills and blueprints literacy are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2+ years in a CNC machining environment preferred.
• Strong knowledge of cutting tools, inserts, and machining processes.
• Familiarity with tool presetting equipment is a plus.
• Basic computer skills (inventory systems, spreadsheets, ERP preferred).
• Ability to read blueprints and tooling specifications.
• Strong organizational and attention to detail skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain inventory of cutting tools, inserts, holders, and related tooling components.
• Issue and track tooling to CNC machinists and operators.
• Inspect tools for wear, damage, and proper condition; replace or recondition as needed.
• Assemble and preset tooling per job requirements.
• Maintain tool crib organization, cleanliness, and labeling systems.
• Monitor tool usage and recommend reorder levels to prevent shortages.
• Coordinate with purchasing to order tooling and supplies.
• Maintain accurate records of tool inventory and usage (manual or ERP system).
• Support setup personnel with tool selection and troubleshooting.
• Ensure compliance with company quality standards and safety procedures.
