Job summary

Gulfstream Aerospace in Savannah, GA is seeking a CNC Technician II to operate and set up automated machines for fabricating parts on the GAC Savannah site. The role is on the second shift (1530-0210 M-T) with a minimum six months training before possible shift changes, and requires a high school diploma or GED plus two years of related experience including at least one year with automated equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate automated machines using existing programs.
• Test program and ensure machine is set up in accordance with drawings.
• Remove and/or replace cutting tools and offsets as required; inspect tools and replace as needed.
• Manipulate programs to fit inserts into material, ensuring fit and conformity.
• Inspect cut material/part prior to CNC operation to ensure conformity with blueprints, models, and engineering documents.
• Identify material and appropriate cutting tools; set up material and inspect for serviceability.
• Monitor material supply.
• Validate preventative maintenance and minor repairs on machines.
• Complete paperwork and other documents as required.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Comply with 5S and Environmental, Health and Safety requirements.

Position Purpose: Set up and operate automated machines to fabricate parts, applying knowledge of shop theory, procedures, shop mathematics, maintainability materials and layout techniques.

Essential Functions:

1. Operate automated machine using existing programs.
2. Test program and ensure machine is set up in accordance with drawings.
3. Remove and/or replace cutting tools and offsets as required. Inspect condition of tools and replace as needed.
4. Manipulate programs to fit inserts into material, ensuring fit and conformity.
5. Inspect cut material/part prior to CNC operation to ensure conformity and compliance with blueprints, models, and/or engineering documents.
6. Identify material and appropriate cutting tools. Set up material and inspect for serviceability.

Additional Functions:

1. Monitor material supply.
2. Validate preventative maintenance and minor repairs on machines.
