Job summary

Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation in Savannah, GA is seeking an entry-level CNC technician to set up and operate automated machines using existing programs. You will read blueprints, identify materials, install cutting tools, and inspect finished parts for conformity to specifications.

Under supervision, you will monitor material supply, respond to maintenance alerts, and help uphold 5S and safety requirements in a clean, organized shop environment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required. Entry level position.
  • Experience in automated machine environment/CNC preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Under supervision, operate automated machine using existing programs.
  • Remove/replace cutting tools and offsets as required; inspect tools and replace as needed.
  • Inspect cut material/part prior to CNC operation to ensure conformity with blueprints/engineering docs.
  • Identify material and appropriate cutting tools; set up material and inspect for serviceability.
  • Monitor material supply and perform basic maintenance alerts as needed.

Education and Experience Requirements

Experience in automated machine environment/CNC preferred.Position Purpose:Set up and operate automated machines to fabricate parts, applying knowledge of shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics, maintainability materials and layout techniques.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Under supervision, operate automated machine using existing programs.
  • Remove/replace cutting tools and offsets as required. Inspect condition of tools and replace as needed.
  • Inspect cut material/part prior to CNC operation to ensure conformity and compliance with blueprints, models, and/or engineering documents.
  • Identify material and appropriate cutting tools. Set up material and inspect for serviceability.

Additional Functions:

  • Monitor material supply.
  • Validate preventative maintenance and minor repairs on machines. Alert maintenance of any repair/preventative issues.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Comply with 5S and Environmental, Health and Safety requirements.

Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
