Job summary

Watteredge LLC in Avon Lake, OH seeks a hands-on Lead CNC Machinist to guide second-shift operations. You will set up and operate CNC mills and lathes, read blueprints, verify tolerances, and coordinate daily assignments to meet production goals.

You’ll mentor junior machinists, troubleshoot tooling, and work with Engineering and Quality to continuously improve processes. This role requires strong leadership, solid CNC experience, and a commitment to safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Previous CNC machining experience with mills and lathes.
• Strong CNC setup, operation, and troubleshooting experience.
• Ability to read blueprints and understand machining tolerances.
• Knowledge of G & M Codes and CNC program adjustments.
• Experience using precision measuring equipment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support CNC machinists and operators on second shift.
• Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes.
• Assist with tooling, fixtures, offsets, and complex machine setups.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, tolerances, and GD&T.
• Work with X, Y, and Z axes, including 4th and 5th axis machining.
• Understand and make edits to G & M Codes, speeds, feeds, and tooling offsets.
• Troubleshoot machining, tooling, programming, and quality issues.
• Inspect finished parts using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring equipment.
• Coordinate daily assignments and help ensure production goals are met.
• Train, mentor, and support CNC operators.
• Work with Engineering, Quality, and Production to resolve issues and improve processes.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
• Additional duties as assigned

Schedule: Monday-Friday | 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM

What You'll Do

What We're Looking For

• Team Lead, Senior Machinist, or other leadership experience preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and understand machining tolerances.
• Knowledge of G & M Codes and CNC program adjustments.
• Experience using precision measuring equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problemsolving skills.
• Ability to lead by example and communicate effectively with the team.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
