Job summary

RTCA in Chatsworth, CA is seeking a hands-on CNC Supervisor for swing shift to lead machinists and coordinate daily production on multi‑axis mills and lathes, including Swiss, EDM, and manual operations as needed.

You will mentor operators, enforce GD&T and quality standards, and collaborate with Engineering, Quality and Production Management to ensure prints are met and processes optimized.

Qualifications

• Five+ years hands-on CNC machining experience with multi-axis mills/lathe setups.
• Demonstrated leadership in production/manufacturing; ability to coach and motivate.
• Familiarity with ERP systems (Global Shop or JobBoss preferred) for work order tracking.
• Knowledge of GD&T and interpreting aerospace blueprints.
• Proficiency with standard inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, indicators).
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor machinists and operators on shift to meet daily production goals.
• Oversee setup, operation, and troubleshooting of CNC milling/turning equipment (3–5 axis) and related processes.
• Coordinate with Engineering and Programming to interpret prints and setup instructions.
• Ensure parts meet print specs and tolerance using proper inspection methods.
• Maintain shop organization, safety, and inventory; support ERP reporting and shift handoffs.

How You’ll Make an Impact:

The CNC Supervisor manages production teams and daily shop operations for their assigned area, ensuring staffing, scheduling, employee performance, safety, and quality standards are met. This role partners closely with Quality, Engineering, Planning, and Manufacturing teams to support production goals and drive operational improvements, providing leadership that keeps RTCA's aerospace manufacturing operations running safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

What you’ll be doing as a CNC Supervisor:

• Working a full-time, onsite position at our Chatsworth, CA location.
• Manage staffing, scheduling, and daily workflow for the assigned production area.
• Oversee employee performance, providing coaching, feedback, and support for team development.
• Monitor and enforce 5S, safety, and quality compliance standards within the area.
• Coordinate with Quality, Engineering, Planning, and Manufacturing teams to support production goals.
• Identify and drive operational improvements, including process, efficiency, and cost-reduction initiatives.
• Support hiring, onboarding, and training for production team members.
• Address production issues, escalating complex matters to leadership as needed.
• Communicate production status, resource needs, and concerns to leadership.
• Support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives across the area.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and aerospace industry standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications (Education, skills and experience):

• Several years of experience in a CNC machining or aerospace manufacturing environment, including experience supervising or leading a team.
• Strong knowledge of CNC machining, production scheduling, and shop floor operations.
• Demonstrated experience managing staffing, scheduling, and employee performance.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to coordinate effectively across Quality, Engineering, Planning, and Manufacturing teams.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to drive operational improvements.
• Commitment to workplace safety and quality compliance.

Preferred Qualifications (Education, skills and experience):

• Aerospace or defense manufacturing experience.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems and production scheduling tools.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

The CNC Supervisor Compensation range for onsite California applicants is $75,000 - $80,000 annually commensurate with experience. Some shifts may include shift differential pay rates. Other site ranges may differ.
