Job summary

Martin Sprocket & Gear is seeking a CNC Shop Supervisor to lead a precision manufacturing team at our US facility. You will set up production cycles, operate CNC lathes, and manage daily department operations with focus on safety, quality, and on-time delivery.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of supervisory experience in manufacturing, CNC programming/operation expertise, and strong leadership. Expect a 6:00am–2:30pm schedule, with comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory or management experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in CNC programming, CNC operation, and machining with the ability to read blueprints.
  • Strong leadership to motivate and develop team members.
  • Shop floor presence, overseeing operations ~2/3 of the shift.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with all stakeholders.
  • Adaptable to changing priorities with maintained productivity.
  • Team player with collaborative work style.
  • Safety-focused leadership and enforcement of standards.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and related software.
  • Strong math and ability to complete logs and reports.

Responsibilities

  • Set up production cycles and operate CNC lathes (turning, drilling, bar feeding, live tooling).
  • Manage daily department operations, ensure safety and time-keeping compliance.
  • Coach and evaluate employee performance for productivity.
  • Assist onboarding and ongoing training for staff.
  • Expedite and prioritize shop orders to meet schedules.
  • Coordinate with management and other departments for manufacturing flow.
  • Maintain machines and work areas in a clean, safe state.
  • Identify and implement manufacturing process improvements.
  • Resolve production or personnel issues promptly.
  • Ensure adherence to policies, quality standards, and regulations.

Are you ready to bring your CNC Supervisory/Manufacturing skills to a team that values precision and innovation? At Martin Sprocket & Gear, we're dedicated to producing quality mechanical power transmission components, material handling systems, and custom forgings with excellence, and we're looking for skilled CNC Shop Supervisors like you!

What You’ll Do:
  • CNC Operation: Set up full production cycle and operate CNC Lathe machines for tasks such as turning, drilling, bar feeding, and live tooling. (Hyundai, Mori, Yugi, HAAS)
  • Department Oversight: Manage day-to-day operations of the department, ensuring efficient workflow, adherence to safety protocols, and compliance with time-keeping and performance management procedures.
  • Employee Management: Oversee employee performance, provide coaching and feedback, and conduct performance evaluations to support team development and productivity.
  • Training & Development: Assist with onboarding and training of new employees, as well as provide ongoing education and skill development for the team.
  • Order Management: Expedite and prioritize shop orders through the department to meet production schedules and customer requirements.
  • Cross-Department Coordination: Collaborate with management and other departments to ensure smooth manufacturing, fabrication, and assembly processes.
  • Workplace Safety & Maintenance: Ensure the team maintains machines and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized manner, addressing safety concerns promptly.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities for operational efficiencies and continuous improvement in manufacturing processes.
  • Problem-Solving: Address and resolve production or personnel issues promptly to avoid disruptions to operations.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to company policies, quality standards, and industry regulations.
What You’ll Bring:
  • Supervisory Experience: Minimum of 5 years of supervisory or management experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Technical Expertise: Experience in CNC programming, CNC operation, and machining, with the ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to motivate, guide, and develop team members to achieve individual and collective goals.
  • Shop Floor Presence: Ability to maintain a consistent and active presence on the shop floor, spending approximately 2/3 of the shift overseeing operations.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage professionally with shop employees, office staff, supervisors, managers, and executives.
  • Adaptability: Able to adjust to changing priorities and unexpected challenges while maintaining productivity and focus.
  • Team Collaboration: Excellent team player with the ability to work well with others and foster a collaborative and cooperative work environment.
  • Safety Leadership: Strong commitment to workplace safety, with a demonstrated ability to promote and enforce safety standards and practices.
  • Performance Management: Proficiency in performance management processes, including creating plans of action and conducting employee evaluations.
  • Detail Orientation: Highly detail-oriented, ensuring quality and precision in all tasks and responsibilities.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other relevant software.
  • Multi-Tasking: Strong ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively throughout the shift.
  • Math Skills: Average math skills, with the ability to read and comprehend written instructions in English and complete logs, documents, and reports accurately.
Your Schedule:
  • Monday-Friday, 6:00am-2:30pm. 30 minute lunch break and 15 minute break.
