Job summary

Martin Sprocket & Gear, Inc. is seeking skilled CNC Machine Operators in Georgia to join a precision-driven team. You will set up and operate CNC lathes, read blueprints, apply GD&T, troubleshoot programs, and support in-process inspection to ensure quality and productivity.

The role requires safety-minded, detail-focused teamwork in a non-climate-controlled shop. 1st shift: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–2:30 PM, with training and opportunities for growth within a respected, global manufacturer.

Qualifications

  • Experience with CNC turning, drilling, bar feeding, and live tooling.
  • Ability to read blueprints and routings.
  • Knowledge of GD&T and geometric controls.
  • Documentation of machining procedures and logs.
  • Ability to lift and stand for long shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC lathe machines and full production cycle.
  • Optimize setup times and improve productivity.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and routings.
  • Apply GD&T to inspected parts and layouts.
  • Troubleshoot CNC programs and adjust as needed.
  • Follow in-process inspection protocols and report issues.
  • Coordinate with supervisors and quality personnel to resolve problems.
  • Wear PPE and comply with safety policies.
  • Record shift documentation and maintain logs.
  • Perform daily preventive maintenance and housekeeping.

Job description

At Martin Sprocket & Gear, we’re dedicated to producing quality mechanical power transmission components, material handling systems, and custom forgings with excellence, and we're looking for skilled CNC Machine Operators like you!

What You’ll Do:
  • CNC Operation: Set up full production cycle and operate CNC Lathe machines for tasks such as turning, drilling, bar feeding, and live tooling.
  • Machine Optimization: Optimize setup times, improve productivity, maintain offsets, and maximize machine utilization.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Read and understand blueprints and route instructions.
  • GD&T Application: Apply expertise in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Program Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot programs and make necessary adjustments.
  • Inspection Process: Follow in-process part inspection protocols and report non-conformance issues to the Supervisor/Lead.
  • Collaborative Communication: Coordinate with superintendents, managers, production control, and quality personnel to resolve quality concerns.
  • Safety Compliance: Work safely and consistently wear required PPE throughout the shift.
  • Shift Documentation: Record and document issues for a seamless shift transition.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Perform daily maintenance checks and document findings.
What You'll Bring:
  • Measurement Proficiency: Knowledge of calipers, gauges, and other required measuring tools.
  • Math Skills: Strong proficiency in basic math.
  • Documentation Skills: Ability to accurately document machining procedures.
  • Tooling Knowledge: Familiarity with metals, part-holding fixtures, and lathe/mill tooling.
  • Machine Experience: Experience with Okuma, Mazak, and Mori lathe machines (preferred).
  • Communication: Basic oral communication skills and the ability to read, comprehend, and complete logs and reports in English.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to handle heavy items, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and positioning components.
  • Policy Compliance: Availability to work scheduled hours and adhere to all company policies, including timekeeping.
  • Adaptability: Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled shop environment and stand for an entire shift.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of machining practices, materials, and general mechanical principles.
  • Willingness to Learn: Eagerness to be trained and a desire to learn new skills.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Reliability: Dependable with a strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
Your Schedule:
  • 1st Shift, Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM
