Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; technical or trade school training preferred.
• At least 2 years of CNC operator experience, preferably in structural steel fabrication or heavy manufacturing.
• Ability to read and interpret steel shop drawings and blueprints.
• Experience using precision measuring tools including calipers, tape measures, and squares.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Set up and run CNC plasma cutters, beam drill lines, and angle lines to process steel components.
• Read blueprints, structural steel shop drawings, and work orders to determine machining requirements.
• Use overhead cranes and rigging to move, position, and secure steel beams, plates, and materials.
• Monitor machine performance and adjust settings to maintain accuracy and quality.
• Check measurements and tolerances using precision tools like calipers and tape measures.
• Make basic programming edits and machine adjustments for different material sizes.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshoot basic equipment problems.
• Keep the work area clean and follow OSHA and shop safety procedures.
