Job summary

Smiths Group is seeking a Manufacturing/Shift Manager for the Pasadena machine shop, responsible for leading CNC turning and milling operations, building a capable workforce, and maintaining a culture of safety and accountability.

You will collaborate with engineering, planning, and maintenance to optimize schedules, drive improvements, and ensure on-time delivery. Strong leadership and manufacturing background required, with a focus on continuous improvement and CSPs.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in manufacturing.
• Minimum 2 years in a leadership role.
• Strong communication and self-motivation skills.
• Knowledge of CNC operations, programming, tooling, MES/LES/ERP systems (QAD preferred).

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise CNC turning/milling to meet production plans and OTDS.
• Develop skills and cross-train staff to enhance capabilities.
• Ensure safety, discipline, and regulatory compliance in the shop.
• Escalate and resolve shop-floor issues with cross-functional teams.
• Collaborate with Production Control, Engineering, and Manufacturing Engineering to improve processes.
• Drive data-driven improvements across SQDPC metrics.
• Assist in hiring, performance reviews, and workforce planning.
• Promote Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Keep alignment with Smiths Group standards and objectives for Pasadena shop.
