Job summary

M & S Manufacturing Inc in Monticello, IA seeks an experienced CNC machinist to join a team-oriented shop environment. You will work with Fanuc-controlled Mori Seiki lathes, read blueprints, and set up tooling, while writing and adjusting G&M code and ensuring quality through first-piece inspection.

Preference is given to candidates with GD&T expertise, G&M code familiarity, and forklift operation ability. Safety, continuous learning, and reliability are valued as core principles in daily work.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years setup experience preferred
• Strong understanding of GD&T
• Basic understanding of G&M code programming
• Ability to operate a forklift safely
• Capability to perform inspection using precision instruments a plus
• 3–10+ years experience adjusting, maintaining and using CNC tooling preferred
• Willingness to learn new skills

Job Description

We are currently seeking an experienced and passionate CNC machinist to work in our team oriented environment. The ideal candidate would have manufacturing experience in a machine shop setting with a working knowledge of G and M code programs and a background in lathe machine work. We primarily operate Fanuc control equipped Mori Seiki CNC lathes.

Responsibilities

• Identifying raw material blanks
• Operating a forklift to safely transfer raw and finished materials
• Loading and unloading programs to and from CNC consoles
• Inspecting and understanding customer supplied blueprints
• Operating and reading precision measuring equipment to maintain blueprint sourced dimensional tolerances
• Inspecting, installing and adjusting fixtures or lathe jaws
• Installing tooling into machine centers and setting geometric locations
• Reading and understanding G&M code based programs and making minor adjustments as necessary
• Closely monitoring a "first run" as necessary
• Producing a finished 1st piece and notifying the quality department it needs inspection
