Job summary

Wabtec in Buffalo Grove, IL, is seeking a skilled machinist to set up and operate CNC equipment, including mills, lathes, lasers, and robotic welders. You will read blueprints, verify tolerances, and ensure quality while maintaining safety procedures.

You will edit programs and adjust tooling, offsets, and conditions to produce parts per GD&T, with daily preventive maintenance and records. Associate degree or 2–4 years' related experience required.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, or 2–4 years related experience.
• Basic understanding of blueprint reading, leadership capability and ability to solve problems.

Responsibilities

• Edit programs for Mills, Lathes, Break Press, Lasers and Robotic Welders, setting instructions and offsets.
• Maintain specifications by measuring, drilling, grooving, turning and other operations.
• Perform daily preventive maintenance, troubleshoot malfunctions and replace worn tools.
• Set up three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments and bar feeders.
• Plan machining by studying work orders, blueprints and GD&T parameters.
• Verify settings by measuring first-run parts and sample pieces using micrometers and calipers.
