Job summary

Torrey Holistics is seeking a CNC Setup Operator to read programs, set up turning centers, and ensure tool alignment and quality control. You will secure workpieces, load tools, and monitor operations while maintaining safety standards.

The role involves comparing parts to blueprints using metric measurements, maintaining production records, and coordinating with the lead on any issues. Strong math, reading, and basic computer skills are required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; 3–5 years related experience.
  • Must be able to set up and operate CNC machining centers.
  • Language Skills: ability to read and write basic English.

Responsibilities

  • Reads programs, identifies errors, sets up machines, and performs offsets on turning centers.
  • Selects appropriate work holding and secures the workpiece in the CNC.
  • Loads and secures cutting tools.
  • Set up and operation of machine and observes cutting operation.
  • Compares completed workpiece with blueprint using metric measurements.
  • Alerts lead of any non-compliant completed workpiece prior to continuing production.
  • Accurately completes required quality and production control documents.
  • Setting new tooling and offsetting tool/program as required.
  • Repeats the operation of the machine to complete the job order.
  • Notifies lead of any unusual occurrences with the machine, tooling or workpiece.
  • Performs Basic Machine Maintenance Functions.
  • Follows all safety procedures regarding the proper operation of the machine.
  • Sets up and operates CMM with existing programs.

CNC Setup Operator Duties and responsibilities
  • Reads Programs, Identify Errors, Sets Up Machines, Performs Offsets on turning machine centers
  • Selects appropriate work holding and secures the workpiece in the CNC
  • Loads and secures cutting tools
  • Set up and operation of machine and observes cutting operation
  • Compares completed workpiece with blueprint with regards to specific metric measurements based on pre-determined inspection cycle for the product
  • Alerts lead of any non-compliant completed workpiece prior to continuing production
  • Accurately completes required quality and production control documents
  • Setting new tooling and offsetting tool/program as required
  • Repeats the operation of the machine to complete the job order
  • Notifies lead of any unusual occurrences with the machine, tooling or workpiece
  • Performs Basic Machine Maintenance Functions
  • Follows all safety procedures regarding the proper operation of the machine
  • Sets up and operates CMM with existing programs
  • Performs other duties as may be required or assigned

  • Check for tool wear, breakage and/or tool life monitoring system
  • Deburring
  • Understands all aspects of Deburring
  • Ability to perform the functions of Machine Operator.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); three to five years related experience
