Job summary

WARNE in New Mexico is seeking an experienced CNC Machine Operator for a production environment. You will read blueprints, set up tooling, calibrate machines, and run operations such as milling, drilling, and boring to produce precision parts.

This role requires a high school diploma or GED, related vocational training, and at least 3 years in machining. You must handle precision measuring tools, demonstrate strong communication, and participate in process improvements for safe, reliable

  • CNC operator certificate is a plus; minimum 3 years machining experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Set up tool arrangements and machine calibrations per instructions.
  • Inspect and maintain machine, tooling, and parts for optimal production.
  • Replace damaged tools and monitor machine performance.
  • Read prints and verify part specifications with measuring tools.
  • Troubleshoot issues and report to the supervisor; implement approved solutions.
  • Complete documentation for work orders and travelers.

Job description

  • Refers to programming instructions, operational data and machine setup instructions to define and code tool arrangements, material clamping methods, machine calibrations and console settings, for operations such as bore, mill, drill, face, thread and occasional profiling and contouring
  • Cleans and maintains machine, tooling, and parts to maintain equipment in optimal production condition
  • Identifies and replaces damaged or worn tools when necessary
  • Exercises special care to ensure the machine is running correctly
  • Observes machine operation to verify accuracy of machine settings and to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining; reports issues
  • Reads prints and checks part specifications by using measuring tools to ensure accuracy
  • Consults with machine shop supervisor for first article inspection for quality assurance purposes
  • Inspects work pieces throughout the production run to identify out-of-tolerance machining
  • Assembles machined parts to identify and guarantee function
  • Navigates between controller screens to make adjustments for off-sets when needed
  • Recovers machine from alarm scenarios
  • Troubleshoots machine operation and run issues and identifies appropriate solutions; communicates issues and solutions to Machine Shop Supervisor, implements solutions upon approval
  • Maintains work station in a safe and clean manner
  • Performs effective start up and shut down procedures
  • Accurately completes all documentation, work orders, travelers, reject travelers.

Prerequisite Knowledge, Skills, And Education
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Related vocational or technical training required
  • CNC Operator Certificate preferred
  • Minimum 3 years as machine operator required
  • Visual acuity requirements to include depth perception and field of vision for the purposes of effectively performing activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes
  • Must understand scheduling process for shifts and machines
  • Willingness and ability to participate in process improvement

  • Ability to effectively and safety use small hand and measuring tools such as calipers, deburring tools and hand files
  • Keen understanding of equipment controls and instrumentation

  • Ability to use hand deburring tools to prep parts for next operation
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions
