Job summary

Wakefield Thermal, Inc. in Nashua, NH is seeking a CNC operator with minimal experience to load/unload parts and run CNC machines after proper training. You will read blueprints, measure parts, and document results while maintaining a safe, clean workspace in a high‑noise environment.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and less than 6 months CNC experience. You will report safety concerns and assist with quality improvements, with PPE including safety glasses and hearing

Responsibilities

  • Review specification to review operating sequence of machine.
  • Load work pieces into machine in the instructed or directed manner, and unloads finished parts.
  • Measure work pieces for conformance to specifications and document it as required.
  • Perform secondary operations as defined by traveler, using various machines/tools such as files, drill presses and sanders.
  • Responsible for cleanliness of own work area and the general housekeeping of the Company.
  • Report unsafe conditions and machine malfunction to setup person/Supervisor/Manager.
  • Ensure quality of parts before forwarding them to next operation/process.
  • Run any CNC machine in the department with proper training.
  • Understand and complete all paperwork.

Job description

Operates CNC machine where no set up is required. Performs selected repetitive maintenance tasks, and housekeeping tasks as necessary. Participates in problem solving activities and contributes to quality improvements. Actively promotes teamwork atmosphere and supports team development.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Reviews specification to review operating sequence of machine.

  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.

  • Loads work pieces into machine in the instructed or directed manor, and unloads finished parts.

  • Measures work pieces for conformance to specifications and documents it as required. Check thread depth and No and Go gauges.

  • Using an air hose the employee cleans the parts.

  • Performs secondary operations as defined by traveler, using various machines/tools such as files, drill presses and sanders.

  • Responsible for cleanliness of his/her own work area and the general housekeeping of the Company.

  • Reports any unsafe conditions and machine malfunction to set up person/Supervisor/Manager.

  • Ensures quality of parts before forwarding them to next operation/process.

  • Run any CNC machine in the department with proper training.

  • Understand and complete all paperwork.

  • Other duties as assigned.


EXPERIENCE:


  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Less than six months CNC experience.

  • Ability to read measuring tools a must.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints a must.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Continuous mental and visual attention is required. Requires constant alertness or activity. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand and occasionally required to walk, sit, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to airborne particles and chemicals. The noise level is usually very loud. The employee is required to wear safety glasses, hearing protection and safety shoes.
